Hernan Martinez is the founder and Managing Partner of Urbana Partners LLC with over a 30-year track record of managing private, governmental and publicly-traded real estate development and investment organizations. His international experience encompasses top-management positions in the USA, Brazil, Costa Rica and Argentina as well as investment, advisory and academic assignments in the Republic of Georgia, Africa, Mexico and the Middle East.

Mr. Martinez provides advisory services and litigation consulting to organizations in the real estate, leisure and resort industries involving issues real estate development, operations, investments and finance including matters concerning valuation, multi-disciplinary feasibility analysis and economic loss claims.

He has been responsible for conceptualizing, developing, building and managing in excess of one million square-meters worth more than U$4 billion. The projects encompass a broad range of property types and urban-scale interventions including: hotels, ski/golf resorts, shopping centers, Class-A office buildings, affordable housing, water parks, theme parks and major mixed-use urban complexes including entertainment, retail centers and transportation-based components. Oxigeno, his 200,000 square-meters project in Costa Rica, developed through an alliance with the Cuestamoras Group, received the 2017 LADI award for the best mixed-use project in Latin America for its design, innovative use of technology and sustainable initiatives at the environmental, social and economic levels.

Mr. Martinez has negotiated, structured and managed highly complex domestic and international ventures and arranged company and project-specific capital structures. He also has a broad experience in the repositioning and monetization of asset portfolios including the re-negotiation and re-structuring of legal and financial structures in the USA and Latin America. All capital market initiatives required the creation and coordination of sophisticated valuation and financial and legal models as well as complex negotiations and intra-party agreements.

As recognition to his expertise, Mr. Martinez has been invited to join the Board of several US and international for-profit and non-profit organizations active in the real estate investment, development and leisure industries. Currently, sits on the Board of a Public Investment Fund and a major development company in Mexico.

Mr. Martinez holds a Diploma in Architecture from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Urban Development Planning, Development Planning Unit from the University College, London (U.K.) and a MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business (U.S.A.)

He is a former Consulting Associate Professor at Stanford University’s School of Engineering and has lectured on business, real estate and entrepreneurship at top US and international schools including UC Davis, CA and the Tbilisi Business School, Republic of Georgia.

Mr. Martinez is a licensed General Contractor and a Real Estate Broker in California, USA. He is fluent in English and Spanish and has conversational, working proficiency in Portuguese
